Alan Baral is the Founder and CEO of Oddly Human Media, a diversified venture capital and strategic consulting firm with interests in healthcare, politics, news and entertainment. Baral is also the acting President of Open Road Entertainment, a creative services agency he co-founded in 2001 that produces audio-visual materials advertising movies, television and streaming content.
Baral formerly co-owned and served as President of New Wave Entertainment, a diversified entertainment company based in Los Angeles that develops and produces television shows, feature films, social and online games, as well as provides creative and production services to film and television studios. New Wave is also one of the industry's leading talent management firms. During his 16-year tenure at the company, he oversaw all aspects of company strategy and operations, including development and production. He provided leadership to more than 300 full time employees with company revenues exceeding $60 million. Alan Baral and New Wave Entertainment were profiled in Judith Glaser's best selling organizational management book, The DNA of Leadership.
Prior to joining New Wave, Baral practiced law at Cahill Gordon & Reindel, a top Wall Street-based law firm. He specialized in mergers and acquisitions, representing investment banks and overseeing numerous highly leveraged transactions. Earlier in his career, Baral was an acclaimed political cartoonist and social satirist contributing to, among others, The Philadelphia Inquirer, US News and World Report, and The Eugene Register Guard. His work also appeared in various book collections, including Drawn Together.
